Available to a good forever home. 18 year old gelding, 15hh.
I got Gus in September very thin as a rehab project. He still has plenty of weight to gain, but is on the right track. This horse needs a home where he will get pampered. He loves being stalled, even if he is the only horse in the barn. He does keep his stall clean compared to most 🙂. He likes his blanket and should be blanketed every winter. If he is outside in the winter, he likes to sit in the shelter alone and eat his own personal hay. He needs daily maintenance to continue his weight gain and once desired weight is acheived will need senior feed daily. He is standoffish until he knows you, then appreciates your attention. He is broke to ride, was supposedly a head/heal horse and also trail ridden. I rode him once, he hated the bit so rode him in his halter. He did okay, but definitely needs a refresher. I'm confident he would be a fine follow along trail horse or maybe the arena is more his style. Has good basic ground manners. He had a full vet exam in July which included a float, abcessed tooth extraction, sheath cleaning and vaccines. Current on dewormings and coggins. I wasn't planning to list him until spring or summer when he is back on pasture and I can ride him more, but if the right pampering home is available for him now, then why not. He does not need to leave and a forever home is a must. He has been passed around enough. $900 or possibly trade (horse, tack, gates, round pen panels or?). Located in Owen, WI. More pictures and video available. Thank you.
