Nuestra Señora de Atocha (Spanish: Our Lady of Atocha) was a Spanish treasure galleon and the most widely known vessel of a fleet of ships that sank in a hurricane off the Florida Keys in 1622. The Atocha was located by the legendary treasure hunter Mel Fisher in 1985. For sale are two Grade 4, 8 Reales, Potosi mint, that sat at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico for 363 years. I purchased these two pieces of history from The Mel Fisher Museum in Key West Florida in 2014. I had them reappraised by the Mel Fisher Curator in 2022 at $1100.00 each, significantly more than I paid for them. These extremely rare coins appreciate in value each year and are a great investment in addition to owning a piece of history. Included in the sale will be the Certificate of Authenticity for each coin from Mel Fischer’s Treasure L.L.C., Appraisal Certificates for each coin from 2022, a DVD video and several books related to the historic find of the Atocha. Asking $1,000 each.
